Our Board of Directors represent a generation of experience and service to the Special Operations community and maintain exceptional ties to current active and retired SOF communities.Our experience is recognized and respected by those who have also served in the Special Operations community.



MSG (Ret) USA John Armezzani, Executive Director

John Armezzani has been in the service of our country since 1978; first as an Army National Guard Infantryman, and then as an active duty Medical Sergeant, Intelligence Sergeant, and Operations Sergeant on Special Forces Operational Detachments “A-Team” in the 1st and 5th Special Forces Groups (Airborne). During his Army career John conducted operations in the Middle East, North Africa, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Rim. John also served at the Special Forces Company and Battalion levels prior to his retirement as a Special Forces Master Sergeant in 2001. After retiring from the U.S. Army John worked 11 years for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a GS 12 Rating Specialist where he was responsible for making determinations regarding the levels of veteran’s disabilities, and later as a trainer and mentor to other VA rating specialist. He is a graduate of the Dept. of Veterans Affairs Ex-POW Case Management Course and has made decisions on the level of disability for most of Washington State’s former POWs and Medal of Honor recipients. John retired from the VA in June 2012 and now works full time as an OASIS volunteer.

LTC (Ret) USA Steve EppersonPresident

Steve Epperson is a 30 year veteran of the active and Army Reserve, retiring while assigned to the Defense Intelligence Agency Joint Reserve Unit in 2001. He served in the 5th, 7th, and 12th Special Forces Groups. Service with the 5th Group was on an A-Team in Vietnam as a weapons Sergeant. Steve is a Master Army Aviator having flown both rotary and fixed wing aircraft.
A graduate of Eastern Washington University and Utah State University, he retired from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in 2008 as both a Veterans Service Representative and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. He previously worked for the American Legion as an accredited Service Officer, and has been with OASIS since 2009 accumulating over 20 years of VA related experience.

CAPT (Ret) USA Wade Ishimoto, Vice President

Wade “Ish” Ishimoto has served with the 1st and 5th SFG(A)s, SF Schools, and 1st SFOD-D. He is a Distinguished Member of the SF Regiment.

Tadge “Tad” Cochran, Treasurer

Tad Cochran is a 1989 graduate of Central Washington University receiving his active duty commission through ROTC. He is a 1995 graduate of the Special Forces Officer Qualification Course. He served as Team Leader on ODA 191 (now 1331) in 3rd Bn, 1SFG(A). Various deployments include JTF-6 as an Intelligence officer and with his team for Operation Joint Endeavor in Bosnia-Hercegovina. His experience at 1SFG(A) honed his desire to serve the SOF community and veterans in need as a lifetime pursuit.

After leaving the Army, Tad attended Eastern Washington University earning a Bachelor in Business Administration-Accounting in 2005. He was a Staff Accountant at Moss Adams, and later served as Controller for H2E Engineering, Inc. Tad has volunteered as a financial officer and strategist for several Eastern Washington non-profit organizations. He is a lifetime member of the Special Forces Association and a recent graduate of Financial Peace University.

SGM (Ret) USA Keith Looker, Secretary

Keith is a 32 year veteran of the Army. The majority of his career was spent with the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) with multiple combat tours to Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom-Philippines. He has served as a Communications Sergeant, Operations and Intelligence Sergeant, Team Sergeant, and Sergeant Major. Keith is an active member of the American Legion and volunteers his time to assist the veterans in the local area. He is also a member of the Rotary Club and provides assistance to the residents of Thurston County, WA and supports several international projects.
